“Stillness” — 99th Natchitoches Christmas Festival

There’s a moment on the Cane River—right before the world erupts—where everything goes impossibly still.
This photograph captures that moment.

Taken during the 99th Annual Natchitoches Christmas Festival, the riverbank was already packed shoulder-to-shoulder. Kids buzzed with anticipation, parents staked out patches of grass like sacred territory, and the entire town hummed with that unmistakable December electricity. But for a few suspended seconds, before the first firework cracked open the night, the river fell silent.

Cool air.
Perfect light.
A sky so deep it felt like it could swallow the whole scene whole.

And across the water, the reflections stretched into gold and white ribbons—razor-sharp starbursts dancing across the surface like the city itself was breathing out, slow and deliberate. It was the calm before the chaos, the inhale before the roar, the heartbeat right before the sky burns.

Most people come for the fireworks.
But this—the silence right before—
this is the part that carries the magic.

This frame holds the exact moment Natchitoches waited together in the dark, the moment the night became something more than spectacle, the proof that wonder doesn’t begin with the explosion… it begins with the stillness.

A rare, perfect breath of a century-old tradition.

Each print from this release will be individually signed and numbered, creating a true limited-edition collector’s piece from the 99th year of the Christmas Festival.

Printed on Archival Matte Fine Art Paper

8×12" print area with a 2" white border (12×16" overall size)

Every print is produced on Archival Matte Paper (Moab Lasal Photo Matte) — a museum-quality, acid-free fine art stock chosen for its smooth surface, rich contrast, and powerful color accuracy. The heavyweight 230gsm matte finish enhances the deep blues, golden reflections, and delicate atmosphere of the moment, giving this quiet scene a timeless, painterly presence.

Engineered for longevity, this print is built to last —
a serene, iconic moment from the 99th Christmas Festival, preserved as fine art.
